This is something that could put a serious dent in everyone's plans for several years to come... Bigtime!
On a much more immediate and somewhat more local level- there's always the real possibility of a brand new war (it's just not the same with only one- and an old forgotten one at that) to start the new year off on the good foot... like say, with Iran.

If America goes to war with Iran then it will surely be for money reasons rather than security reasons. The US needs to be in wars to keep the economy going in a GOP controlled economy. You can bet your last dollar that none of the top CEO's kids ever get into active service. If the US wants to wage war then military service should be compulsory with no exceptions or deferrals. Take little Johnny out of Harvard and hand him a helmet and an M16. If that were ever to happen you could bet your second last dollar that the US would soon take a different tack.
