A Coupla Things...

I love landscapes that include cooling towers (specifically of the nuclear persuasion). They're such lovely, organic forms that complement any countryside setting. Tranquil, idyllic- and quietly terrifying all the same. Can't get enough of those iconic structures, and the serene sense of dread they so in/conspicuously provide- so knew I had to put Puffy Clouds by Jürgen Nefzger (featured on Conscientious) on my must get list.

Those of you interested in getting a choice photo published on the internets can try your luck at the Best Shot competition being hosted by the Texas Photographic Society in conjunction with Fraction Magazine...

My father in-law worked at that power station Stan. It's been knocked down now and replaced with a prison. It's just down the road from me. Natures taking it back and it's all green now down by the river. Hope all's well. The lift shaft clip... I think Bill Hicks would have decribed him as a 'fucking moron'

Hey, Mark! I can't say enough about John Davies- my favorite landscape photographer ever. I went to see the post I did on him previously and couldn't find it- must have put it on this blog's previous incarnation. Something I'll have to remedy soon.

Prison and nature- an odd, imbalanced juxtaposition of man's future...

Yeah, perhaps one of the ultimate morons, and ultimate humans ever. I hope they build some kind of monument to him there.
