What's Wrong With This Picture?

I knew there was something seriously and innately wrong with this picture, and it all came into very clear focus the fourth sentence down.

And it never stops...

Stan, The Gallery that I just got fired from ran a sceme called RECLAIM that gives young, mainly black lads positve role models other than sport & rap stars. ie firemen, business leaders, youth workers,Doctors, Artists etc. Except now the gallery has closed and is being turned into a football museum. The Irony is lost on the powers that be.

Sounded like a decent program, for any kid- and irony is always meant to be lost by the powers that be...
It's just a little sad that these primary school kids were unknowingly and purposely made part of some inside, yuk-yuk racist/sexist joke by their "teachers."

PS- Be interested in how your "sceme" varies from our "scheme" which has connotations of "scam."

The main difference is I forgot to add a H for a start.
The scHeme has won loads of awards over here and has had interest shown in it from Desmond Tutu and it was showcased in South Africa a couple of years ago. I was going to get Ruth Ibegbhuna the founder to contribute to 'prison Pete's upcoming bebate discussion.

Sounded like a brilliant, simple and effective program. Was just wondering if the reality was something far different than the plan, since so often such worthy programs can be perverted into money making enterprises or mere publicity making scams.

for the "powers that be" it has to be soft, shmuuzzy, lovely" and non threatening. if we talk about inter-racial, and cross-societal it is worse. The powers require that their own family members fit into and maintain the status quo. The social divide is painful.... political and economic apartheid.
