Politics 101

First, I must say that the very sight of this guy made me turn away in disgust- just one of those visceral, gut level things. Couldn't stand the very sight of him! And he certainly didn't seem to be very funny, or whatever it was he was supposed to be, or do.

Then, quite accidentally, I heard Mr. Russell Brand speak, and though I still can't vouch for his comedy, he is as intelligent in his (political) thinking as he is lightning fast in his speech...

As with most clowns, there is a lot more intelligence behind the "mask" than what they normally want you to know about. The Brand interview surprised me too. He's voicing what most of us feel, the present system is very broken.

I don't think the current system is broken as that implies that it was ok in the beginning . I think that it lost its true purpose almost from the beginning when wealth and self interest overwhelmed its beginnings. R. Brand is correct in his assumption that what is needed is a revolution a complete Annihilation of the current status quo. We all need to stop voting, all of us. We need to signal that we are no longer going along with the best of a bad bunch because it is just plain not good enough. I despair at the world my 10year old daughter will inherit from me.

RS- It's gonna take a helluva lot more than not voting or sending signals- and we're still a long, long way from revolution.

We're really at a crossroads now, and I'm not even talking politics. This planet cannot survive at this rate, it's dying; and rather than save and repair it (and in so doing, save ourselves) we've chosen to suck dry every last drop of life and energy that still remains. Our world economic crisis cannot, does not even rate in that arena.

Put the blame on our decaying environment at the foot of Capitalism. Companies must keep on increasing shareholder equity or die. There is no reward for good stewardship of our environment. The richest capitalists in the US are heavily invested in Alberta's Oil Sands. I'm sure they are just as heavily invested in many other atmosphere killing industries. Expose the likes of Icahn, Gates, Buffett and the Koch brothers. But then again you would be wasting your time as they control governments, media and banks. Face it we are fucked. I can hear that fiddle playing,,,can you?
