It lets the lever advance but still does not fit properly- and the guy willingly screwed several random candidates. <br /><br />I think the link (and petition) provide several good arguments against Nikon's recent policy. Bottom line- any policy that does not allow tossing a loyal customer a good screw, deserves to get screwed. Well that soun...I thought you got a working screw? Well that sounded bad ;) Anyway there must be numerous people in your area that could flip you the proper screw for .25C I'm sure. Nikon is not alone in this practice. Most manufacturers of mechanical luxury goods do not sell "parts" as this cuts into their repair business. If people want to become certified Nikon repair people I am sure they have to buy all their parts exclusively from Nikon.
